A former college student in Belarus has been ordered to pay a fine of 11000 rubles for not fulfilling her work obligation after graduation. According to the law all students who receive government scholarships are required to work in a designated field for a certain period of time after graduation. However the student failed to find a job in her field and did not inform the authorities. As a result she was fined and her diploma was withheld until the fine is paid. This case highlights the strict regulations and consequences for not fulfilling work obligations after receiving government support for education in Belarus.
